Globalshop Las Vegas, March Madness and Loblaws

Fresh back from the 2012 Globalshop Store Fixture Show in Las Vegas. An extremely successful show for the CBSF team. Definitely our most successful to date. We had some great introductions and conversations with a lot of new retail friends as well as our existing. Great job guys, now we’ve got some expectations to live up to, which we always do.

It’s March Madness time!!! I love this stuff. I’m not a basketball fan, but there’s something about the pace and passion that is electric. Go Ohio State!

We’re very proud to have been selected by Loblaws to help them out with the rollout of their new optical departments across the chain. They are a great looking (no pun intended) addition to the stores. We completed the initial prototype in a very short timespan and presented it to perfection. Now it’s full steam ahead.

I was recently asked to speak to a group at The Sutton Place hotel about my experiences as an entrepreneur. It was a big deal for me as I had not spoken to a group this big, outside of our own staff. I was in some pretty smart company as well and I don’t put myself in that classification. With the exception of it going way over the time I was allotted, I guess it was a success. I knew it was going to go long and I mentioned it to the organizers when I arrived and they told me that it was no problem. So I’m a little nervous as it is and I start into speaking and a girl in the front row, with whom I’d not met, holds up a card with a 5 on it… 5 minutes left??? Now I know for a fact that I have 15 minutes at least left. So I ignore her and carry on and what feels like 30 seconds later, she holds up another card with a 3 on it. Now I’m really sweating. I want to pause and tell her to piss off but I’m trying to keep my thoughts together for the presentation and speed it up without it sounding sped up. So i never looked in the front row again until I was done. She didn’t look happy at the end. A fantastic experience, thank you to the Institute for Competitiveness and Prosperity for inviting me to speak. Have a read here. https://business.financialpost.com/tag/bud-morris/

Lastly, the junior Morris’ Vaughan Rangers played a fantastic tournament in Detroit recently. Not only did the boys get the opportunity to play a game at the Joe Louis Arena, which was fantastic, but they actually won the whole tournament! The final game was decided by one goal and it went down to the wire. Great experience. Great job boys and coaches.
