The clouds in Woodbridge, ON didn’t stop us today from supporting one of our employees and their family. We had a strong turnout with 16 employees volunteering to be chilled in support of ALS and join the thousands of people participating in #ALSIceBucketChallenge.
The original concept of the challenge was to dump the cold water instead of donating. According to the Forbes magazine article from Aug 19, ‘Think The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Is Stupid? You’re Wrong.’the ALS Association “has since said that it has raised $15.6 million as a result of this challenge, nine times what it normally raises in the same time frame.” And that isn’t the only charity seeing the benefits; other organizations both in the US and Canada are seeing as high as 50 times what it normally receives in donations. ALS Canada is also tracking at over 40% of their goal collected in only 4 days.
We, like so many other supporters are getting chilled and donating to the cause at www.ALS.ca/IceBucketChallenge.
We can’t wait to see our friends, families and retail customers accept our challenge to them!
